Upon graduating from University of South Florida with my bachelor’s degree in Sociology, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my career. I thought about how much I loved my college experience and realized perhaps I simply wasn’t ready to move on!

I started applying for entry level positions at USF and ended up in the undergraduate admissions office as an enrollment specialist. From there I moved into recruiting and ultimately decided I wanted to advise college students throughout their programs and landed in the College of Nursing. I advised students in the RN-BSN and MSN programs and learned a lot about the field of nursing, as well as adult learners because the program was mostly online and catered to those who already had an RN license. I took advantage of my time at USF and pursued a master’s degree in Adult Education where I learned even more about this population’s unique needs. During my time at the College of Nursing, I helped nurses successfully plan and complete their degrees, developed and managed an orientation program, and worked closely with professors and deans, all of which helped prepare me for my role at EdAssist.

After many years in traditional higher education, I started to wonder what else I could do with the skills and industry expertise I had gained. I wanted a new challenge and discovered EdAssist by Bright Horizons while pursuing a move from Florida to Boston. It seemed like the perfect match! I knew I enjoyed advising adult learners and could excel in this role, but I never imagined where it would take me, more than a decade later.

My approach to coaching is to always come in with an open mind and listening ear. Adult learners have a lot to manage and balance; going back to school is a big decision! Often times just having someone to listen to their challenges and goals and let them know they can do this is all they need to give them the edge they need to push forward.
