Bright Horizons Centers Nationwide Celebrate NAEYC’s Week of the Young Child® by Hosting Artsy Thursday for Children and Families
April 16, 2024 – Recently, more than 529 Bright Horizons centers nationwide participated in the Week of the Young Child®, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Week of the Young Child® is a fun-filled week celebrating the importance of early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. All week center staff, children and their families were encouraged to take part in activities that promoted learning and development.
This year, Bright Horizons was the proud sponsor and host of Artsy Thursday, a day to celebrate the joy and learning children experience when engaged in creative art making. Centers invited enrolled and community families to stop by the center and unleash their inner artist. Children and their families participated in hands-on art experiences like creating their own tote bags with stamps, designing puppets and painting family portraits.
Other activities planned included Music Monday where children sang, danced, and listened to music to help develop their language and early literacy skills. During Work Together Wednesday, teachers and children worked together to create STEM projects like planting seeds for their center’s on-site garden.
