November 12, 2024 – Over 500 Bright Horizons early education and preschool centers nationwide hosted STEM Fest on November 7, 2024, to celebrate National STEM Day. STEM is an integral component of Bright Horizons’ Discovery Driven Learning® framework. The annual in-center provides an opportunity for enrolled and prospective families to see first-hand what STEM-based activities preschool and kindergarten prep classrooms have been working on to foster children’s curiosity. Each center displays their respective STEM projects in their STEM lab, movement area or enrichment space.

During STEM Fest at Bright Horizons Clubhouse at West Cary in Cary, NC, children and families participated in different STEM activities led by teachers and administrators. The activities included exploring ramps, a slime experiment, and hypothesizing in a “Sink or Float” activity in the center’s density lab. Additionally, the center featured recent project work from their school-age classroom. The children in the classroom have been studying electricity and air pressure and hosted an in-person demonstration on how to make an air cannon using a trash can and duct tape.

“STEM Fest is a fun hands-on event for our entire center community,” said Leslie Holt, Center Director at Bright Horizons Clubhouse at West Cary. “It allows our families to experience our curriculum first-hand through their children’s innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills.”

Through Bright Horizons’ Discovery Driven Learning framework, children can actively engage in STEM activities, while being supported by responsive teachers, proven instructional methods, as well as joyful, playful, and inclusive classrooms.
