Healthcare needs nurses. Finding them isn’t always easy.
DaVita Kidney Care is taking a proactive approach – growing them in-house.
Just announced, the Bridge to Your Dreams program is the organization’s response to healthcare’s biggest talent challenge – nurses – taking on predicted shortages by helping existing employees go from tech to trained nurse with an associate degree.
And it does it by taking on the three big obstacles to learning;
Money: The program covers most tuition and related costs.
Time: Expedited prerequisite courses will be transferable into many Associate Degree in Nursing programs across the country, showing people the finish line faster and improving completion rates.
Confidence: All participants get the support of Bright Horizons EdAssist Solutions academic coaches to help keep them on track to graduation.
The benefits aren’t just for employees. Focusing on education for a large population makes the program cost effective for the employer, too. And there’s another important perk. With dire nurse shortages predicted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the visible pipeline of career growth stands to appeal to people outside the organization, helping DaVita with another healthcare imperative – bringing new employees in.
"Fostering an environment where education and career advancement opportunities are easily accessible is a priority at DaVita," DaVita’s Chief Nursing Officer Mandy Hale, DNP, MSN, MBA, RN, CNN, said recently.
"Through Bridge to Your Dreams, we're nurturing teammates into rewarding careers that help to shape the future of kidney care."
