Fun Fact: The bramble is one of the fastest movers in the plant kingdom. It can grow 3 inches in a day!
Have you ever seen a time-lapse video? On this virtual field trip to a woodland, you will see a bramble plant grow, sending out new branches across the forest floor. Time-lapse photography uses many photographs taken over a long period of time and combines them into a video that you watch at high speed. It allows us to see incredible changes over time.
Time-Lapse Challenge: Can you create a time-lapse video of something in nature? This is easy to do with a phone or tablet. Think about what subject you would like to film. It should be something that changes over time like clouds in the sky, shadows, trees or plants moving in the wind. You could also investigate the movements of insects or animals. Be sure to stay close to your device and make sure it is protected from rain, wind, or other weather. Never leave your device outside alone and ask for permission from an adult before taking it outside.
For iPhone or iPads: Open the Camera app and choose Time-Lapse setting. Set your camera on a stable surface or use a tripod. Focus on the scene you would like to capture and start recording. Record for at least 2-3 minutes.
For Android devices: Open the Camera app and choose the hyperlapse setting. Set your camera on a stable surface or use a tripod. Focus on the scene you would like to capture and start recording. Record for at least 2-3 minutes. Share your video with family and friends (virtually)!
