This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to use large muscles to move and balance their own body.
Participants: This activity is intended for parent/child interaction.
Directions:
Sing the following song to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot” (author unknown) while doing the actions.
- Plant a little seed in the dark, dark ground (pretend to make a hole in the ground with your hands).
- Out comes the yellow sun, big and round (raise your arms over your head and clasp hands together).
- Down comes the cool rain, soft and slow (wiggle your fingers to represent rain).
- Up comes the little seed, grow, grow, grow (slowly move from a crouching position to a standing one).
Learn More:
Look at and taste garden vegetables, read books about gardens, or draw illustrations to go with the song.
