This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to demonstrate an understanding of cause and effect.
Materials Needed:
- Bubble solution
Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.
Directions:
- Blow bubbles outdoors. Describe what you’re doing (e.g., “Look, I’m blowing bubbles.” Emphasize the “b” sound. Show your child how to blow out a puff of air).
- Hold the bubble wand and allow your older baby or toddler to try to blow air to make a bubble.
- Point out how the bubbles pop as they rise. Learn More: Show your child how to blow bubbles in water or place the bubble wand in front of a fan. Try pouring the bubble solution into a shallow pan and using household items to make the bubbles (e.g., clean fly swatters, straws, or funnels).
