Being Brave

This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to reflect on what it means to be brave and care for others. Reading high-quality children’s literature together is a great way to spark thoughtful discussions about positive character development.

Materials Needed:

Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.

Directions:

  1. Read the story together or watch it online.
  2. Discuss the story together. What hard things did Irene do? What might have happened if she had given up? What would your child do in her stead?
  3. Offer a few props from the story, such as a box and a scarf. Encourage your child to act in the story.
