Early childhood is a pivotal time in the life and growth of every child. Here is a real-world example that shows how one teacher successfully intervened to support a child in her care:
An individualized approach
Jamal was about to start his first day of preschool.Developmentally, he was ready to move out of the toddler room and make the transition into the preschool classroom at Bright Horizons.
Jamal’s parents wanted to make the shift to preschool but were concerned about the transition.
That’s where Jamie, the preschool teacher, stepped in.
Jamie began visiting Jamal in the toddler room to give him a familiar face in the preschool classroom.
When Jamal eventually made the full-time move to preschool, Jamie took the initiative to update Jack’s parents via My Bright Day®, the Bright Horizons app, about Jack’s progress.
Jamie also made sure to touch base with Jamal’s parents face-to-face at drop-off and pick-up.
Observing Jamal’s passion for puzzles, Jamie made sure to have extra puzzles available in the classroom and paired Jamal with children who had similar interests.
Over the course of a few short weeks, Jamal adjusted and began to really thrive in his new environment — and the time Jamie took to get to know Jamal made all the difference.
