The latest Bright Horizons Modern Family Index survey reveals that even preschoolers are affected by excessive technology use, with parents noticing both mental and physical impacts at home. It's clear that many children might benefit from a digital detox. “Screens are essentially unavoidable today,” says Rachel Robertson, Chief Academic Officer at Bright Horizons, “but families should be cautious and deliberate about introducing children to screen-based activities in the early years. The more guardrails you put in place early, the less you’ll have to do retroactively. Technology is often used to make things easier so it’s understandable why it can be a go-to solution in high-stress situations, but it’s worth the upfront effort to be ready with alternate solutions for those moments.”
