My original life plan was to be a teacher. I earned my undergraduate degree in elementary education and taught 5th grade for four years. While doing some serious soul searching during a break from teaching, I remembered how happy I was when I was a college student. I found a graduate degree in student affairs and began my studies to become a professional in higher education. I fell in love with academic advising.

I have worked at multiple institutions of higher education, primarily as an advisor, including advising graduate students in the College of Nursing at the University of South Florida.

I joined EdAssist because I love helping people. I also understand that adult learners can be hesitant to pursue education for a variety of reasons, and I am here to help them shift their mindset about going to school (either for the first time, or again).

Nothing makes me happier as a coach than hearing someone say, “Thank you for helping me see things more clearly,” or “I feel so much better after talking to you.” Life is stressful, and curveballs come at us all the time, and I truly enjoy helping learners realize they are not alone. I can relate to adult learners as I was an adult learner myself, dealing with life, raising children, and managing my household. Having lived this experience makes me an empathetic listener and coach.

Don’t worry about what others are doing. The only person you are competing against is yourself from yesterday. Eyes on the prize, and one step at a time.
