What You Need
- Anything available that can generate a sound
Use available objects to make sounds — from tapping a pen on your water bottle to snapping your fingers. Say, “What’s making that sound? Is it my fingers?” and, “What sounds can you make?”
What Your Child Learns
This activity encourages active listening and focus as your child tries to determine the source of the sound. She might use multiple strategies, such as watching for the sound or thinking about when she's heard a similar sound before to solve the problem.
