What You Need
- Colorful puppets (make sure they don’t have small pieces that could create a choking hazard)
How to Do this Activity
Hold a puppet on your hand and make eye contact with your little one. Then, softly touch your baby with the puppet and sing or talk at the same time. Wait for your baby to make a sound or say something in response, and then continue the back-and-forth.
What Your Child Learns
Through this activity, your baby feels nurtured and safe. She understands that you are interested in her and responsive to her communication. This is powerfully motivating and increases her interest in connection and language.
