This activity promotes development and learning by encouraging children to listen to, understand, and respond to communication from others.
Materials Needed:
- None
Participants: This activity is intended for adult/child interaction.
Directions:
- Step 1: Explain the rules of the game. Each player starts a sentence with the phrase, “It’s a warm summer day and we’re going on a picnic. Let’s take…”
- Step 2: The first player thinks of one food to take. Each subsequent player must include the previously listed foods and add one additional item. Soon you’ll have a long list to remember and repeat, e.g., watermelon, chicken, spaghetti, tofu, tacos. Feel free to include a few nonsensical foods.
- Step 3: The game ends when one player forgets a food.
